Pierre Anckaert Trio vs MonkeyRobot – 74 Miles AwayPosted on Nov 26, 2010 by Julius |
After almost two years since the “74 Miles Away” initial recording sessions, we’re proud to announce this album. The first single “Same Dream Again” will be part of “Lefto & Simbad present Worldwide Family Vol.1” to be released on Brownswood on the 3rd of January 2011 while the full album will follow in February 2011 on Cologne based label Melting Pot Music.
The main idea behind this “74 Miles Away” project is to put the Fender Rhodes – one of the most precious electric pianos of the last decades – in the spotlight. LuiGi together with his old time friend Pierre Anckaert (who already participated on several of his productions including the “Scrabble” makeover for Jazzy Sport) and partner in crime Eric P. came along the idea to record a split LP where everything was built up around Pierre’s own compositions.
The A-side of the record contains four jazz tracks that were composed by Pierre Anckaert and performed by his electric trio. On the B-side, you’ll find the same four tracks, heavily reworked by MonkeyRobot (formerly known as Infinitskills) in collaboration with some of today’s infamous vocalists.
Here is a preview, first Pierre’s composition and then the MonkeyRobot rework:
AHU is best known as singer of Flying Lotus’ “Roberta Flack”. She lives in London and has worked with producers like Paul White and Dimlite. Melting Pot Music artist Miles Bonny lives in Kansas City and has worked with everybody from DJ Day to Suff Daddy.
