Neil Armstrong "Original"
I remember when I first heard this mix being played in "
De Hop" some 6-7 years ago.
Classic 90's Hip Hop tracks mixed with their original version.
Before listening to this tape, I had never thought about how Hip Hop was made.
The whole sampling / musical legacy was new to me.
This tape had a huge influence on me and many of the people surrounding me at that time
so I thought it was time to share it with you. Thanks Neil for giving us your approval!
The mp3 version available on this site has been recorded from the original mixtape.
If you want better sound quality, check the
5th Platoon online store for a remastered version of this classic mix.
Neil Armstrong is a dj from NYC.
He founded the 5th Platoon crew more than ten years ago together with Daddy Dog, Roli Rho, Do Boy , Vin Roc, Kuttin Kandi, I.Emerge.
Neil has also been part of "Russell Gunn and Ethnomusicology" jazz band where he explored the idea of using a turntable as an instrument.
