Soon in Brussels: General Elektriks
Posted on September 21, 2009 by Funky Bompa | Share |Some of you might know I co-founded a venue for concerts and theater 5 years ago and that I organize around 50 concerts a year. An eclectic program of folk, rock, ska/dub acts and from time to time a funky band that gets more plays than others at home and in parties. General Elektriks (GE), lead by keyboard performer “RV” Salters, is one of these bands. I discovered the man 5 years ago with his banger “Tu m’intrigues”. Now he’s back with another nice album, and gets to play live in our house, the Atelier 210 on the 10th of October.
Showing evident influence from Gainsbourg’s 60s jazz and psych sound, the first track I heard from his new album delighted me instantly…
GENERAL ELEKTRIKS - Take back the instant (2009)
SERGE GAINSBOURG - La horse (1969)
(actual intro scene from the movie - track only starts at 03’15″)
Here is also a mix featuring some of my favorite tracks from his first 2 albums:
