Strand & The Banksters
Posted on Dec 12, 2012 by Julius |Last summer, right after the release of his Slam Funk project, Strand went back to Madrid. Invited by Mondo Sonoro to record in the Red Bull Studios, he gathered Mario Zamora (from Madrid psych-rockers Lüger) and Javier Diez Ena (from jazz-surf-psyche-punk outfits Dead Capo and Ginferno) for some serious jamming.
They came out the studio with two tracks rapidly picked up by record label Lovemonk to enter their catalog as a 7inch nicely illustrated by Punzon…
“Cajas Sin Ahorros” is a slice of oddball, white android funk with a hint of exotica and some cosmic guitars that would make Roy Batty shit his pants, and “Intervención/Rescate” is a floating downtempo jam, with a dubby bass line and all kinds of percussion and analogue space noise going on.
… and story goes on… Early January Strand plans to go back to Madrid and record more tracks with an extended rooster of banksters.
Strand gave me a two copies of his three latest releases: Dub! (7″ - 2010), Slam Funk (12″ - 2012) and Cajas Sin Ahorros (7″ - 2012) asking me to offer them. Send me an email [email protected] - with the answer to the following question: Who did introduced me to Strand? (Hint: use the search button and go back to… 2009). First two correct answers get the three records. Congrats to Cas and Ricardo, you should get the records soon!
