Laid Back Show - 15/10/2008

Posted on October 15, 2008 by Julius

After JR introduced us to the sound of the “Groove” and Madfingaz blessed us with a great Hip Hop mix, it is time for another Laid Back show on FM Brussel.

This week, Funky Bompa presents a set called “Santo Domingo Digging 2008″.

Once in a while Bompa pays a visit to his “second” family in Dominican Republic. It is always a good opportunity for him to bring back records, pictures and incredible stories that he shared with us in the show.

As usual this mix will be available during one week, but you can also visit Bompa’s myspace for more pictures from his recent trip and to download his set.

Jimmy Spleer - Super Rhyme’s Rap (Dazz Records 1980)
Vaughn Mason - Bounce, rock, skate, roll pt2 (Brunswick 1979)
Salsoul Orchestra - Journey to Phoebus (Salsoul 1977)
The Impact Of Brass - So far so good (Motown 1971)
Willie Rosario & Orchestra - Consorte (Inca 1971)
Saoco - Siempre sere guajiro (Mericana 1976)
Los Virtuosos - Montuno viene (Discolor 1977)
Carmen Rivero - Cumbia, cumbiamba (Caytronics)
Linda Vera - La yerba santa (Discos Columbia)
Indio Bravo - Celos (Zuni)
O.V. Wright - Born all over (Backbeat 1971)
Barrabas - Chico (RCA 1972)
Leon Thomas - Shape your mind to die (Flying Dutchman 1972)
Curtis Mayfield - We the people (Curtom 1971)
Grupo Folklorico y Experimental Nuevayorquino - Cuba linda (Mericana/Salsoul 1975)

Funky Bompa is, among other activities, dj and record collector. He hosts the Sonoton radio show every month on radio Campus (Brussels) and is responsible for “Flash Black” on LDBK, our online radio.

Check Funky Bompa live with Vic&Lloyd (on-point) at the Cheeba Cheeba party (24th of October - Cafe Bota Stereo - free entrance). A night not to be missed…
