Il Ultimo Delirio
Posted on February 17, 2010 by FabE |Further to my last digging trip in Torino and in Milano in July 2009 and especially after having finally solved some computers’ problems which prevented me from recording my LPs, it was time for me to do this mix of Italian progressive rock.
The Italian progressive rock scene in the 70’s was quite huge, definitely one of the biggest in Western Europe. I tried to select some of my favourite tracks to give you an idea to what this music looks like. I know this is not exactly the kind of music you use to listen on LDBK radio but I hope that you will discover some songs that you will enjoy!
All the songs selected for this mix are from the 70’s except the two songs from the band ‘Il baccio della medusa” which is a contemporary Italian band but definitely keeping the same vibes than the ones from the 70’s.
The first song is the soundtrack of the movie “Milano Calibro 9”, which is the first movie of a trilogy by Fernando di Leo, including “La mala ordina” and “Il boss”. The music is played by the progressive band Osanna but was written by Luis Enriquez Bacalov who wrote quite a lot of soundtracks (including a part of Tarantinos’ Kill Bill) and also wrote tango and symphonic music. The film is about a rivalry between Italian gangsters in Milan in the 70’s. You can check out below the introduction of the movie including this song.
Here is my “Ultimo Delirio”. Hope you will enjoy!
