When Incks met Carlito

Posted on April 6, 2010 by Incks |

After three weeks of dodging some very terrible weather in New York City, one beautiful Sunday Morning, I was very pleased that the Sun made way for two Artists to come together with a collaboration of photographs and music. Having met Carlito Brigante on this day made me realize how truly beautiful my city is!

Previously, to our collaboration, we had some really great conversations about our visual ideas and musical tastes. Come to find out, Carlito and I were from different spectra with regard to music and visual ideas which created an easy and well-balanced energy between us. Beginning our collaboration at eight-o’clock in the A.M., we first met up in The Stuy; Bed-Stuy that is. On first meeting Carlito, our energies were just as easy and balanced as our conversations were before we met. I was at ease and felt free shooting on a rooftop Downtown Brooklyn with this amazing view of my hometown.

The Sun was beaming down on us with love and during those moments I was reminded of what it felt like to paint a visual picture of the ideals and creative aspirations that I pursue on a daily basis. With the release of “Pimpstress” this summer and the recording of new material for a new album on my mind during the shoot, in working with Carlito I got the sense that his creativity was flowing just as freely as I felt during the shoot. His eye for the perfect shot and lighting captured moments when I was in my most natural state of being.

In between visiting other locations during our all day shoot, including Williamsburg, and meeting several wonderfully talented individuals along the way, we discussed our ideas of shooting a video within a few weeks; In short, there will be a part two to our collaboration of visuals and music! Stay tuned LDBK family.
