A few weeks ago, we got in touch with the nice people from Japanese record label Jazzy Sport who seemed interested in releasing Louie Gee Ensemble’s first track “Scrabble” and even suggested to put a Mitsu the Beats remix of the Rene Costy cover on the B side of the 7inch. Immediately emails started flowing between Brussels and Tokio and in no time this incredible and unexpected deal was sealed (Believe me you can’t beat those guys when it comes to efficiency)

Last Thursday, I received an email from Jazzy Sport manager Taro telling me he was in Brussels for the day and wanted to hand deliver us the remix Mitsu had finished the day before. Damn? Like that? Out of nowhere? That was just crazy! So after Rene Costy, Jay Dee and the Louie Gee Ensemble, here comes Mitsu the Beats with his version of “Scrabble”. And what a great one! Even better was the discussion we had with Taro. That’s when this Internet thing becomes great, when you actually meet your contacts.

And what a meeting that was. I’ve been really inspired by Taro’s speech about the Jazzy Sport philosophy and organization, always trying to improve themselves, pushing young artists, being active at all stages of their business line (from production, booking, licensing to the actual shops) It was really cool to discuss life in Japan vs Europe, the musical scenes, this interconnected world we are living in and how to bring sportsmanship in our every day life.

This was also a great opportunity to discover Jazzy Sport’s future releases. Among them, there is the new Mitsu the Beats album. A very solid producer’s album filled with underground hiphop, jazz, classy r’n'b and the best featurings you could expect.

Mitsu the Beats’ 2nd album “A word to the wise” will be available on the 27th of May 2009 on Jazzy Sport. The first single “Promise in Love feat. Jose James” is already out. Get it at Rush Hour. Official release date for the Louie Gee Ensemble 7inch to be announced later.
