What’s new on LDBK radio?

We’ve been putting a lot of focus on our weekly FM radio show lately. So much that some people tend to forget that Laid Back is also available as a 24/7 online radio station since March 08.

Well, it’s all good because it was part of the strategy not to put too much spotlight on LDBK radio as Radionomy, the company providing us with the technical/legal solution making this possible, is still in test phase. And so is our online radio project. At the moment, Laid Back is like a laboratory. We are testing various ideas and as far as the online radio is concerned, we’re still trying to figure out what bringing radios online really means, how to make the best use of new technologies and where to stand in the on-demand/recommendation game.

Our first attempt to address those questions is the player I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. A test version has been sent to a few testers during the last two weeks and we are currently preparing the official release due end of February. If you can’t wait to discover this player, contact us at show{at}laid-back.be and we’ll send you a link to install a test version.

In the meantime, there are many ways to listen to LDBK radio:

- Launching the player on top of the right sidebar.
- Opening our stream in your favorite player (WMP, Winamp, iTunes, …)
- Browsing the iTunes radio directory: Hip Hop / Rap > Laid Back Radio
- Visiting the Laid Back’s page on Radionomy

Next to the Central/Datasmart team working at making the stream easily accessible, all the dj’s participating in the LDBK project recently refreshed their playlists and the program grid is currently filled with 11 daily thematic shows:

- Pulsations selected by BlastKid - Soulful funky Jazz.
- Succulent Sound selected by LP - New classic soul with a twist.
- Times and Themes selected by 40 Winks - Soul, Funk, Jazz, Library and related beats.
- Soul Food selected by This is Tomorrow - Vintage and Contemporary Funk and Soul.
- Uphill Sounstation selected by Uphill Sound - From Dancehall to Rub a Dub.
- DaBee’s Show selected by AmelDaBee - Good old soul and Dabee’s current favorites.
- Go Bang! selected by Onda Sonora - Some uptempo tracks in a Laid Back world.
- Plastix selected by Azer - New millenium Hip Hop.
- Flash Black selected by Funky Bompa - Funk, Latin and Hip Hop.
- Radio Hijack selected by Infinitskills - Hip Hop, beats and classic tracks.
- Soul Searching selected by Professor Eddy - 80’s soul, funk and disco.

Every week, we focus on one artist or dj in our guest spot. This week’s guest is Amber Ojeda, singer and songwriter out of the San Diego/Los Angeles area combining soulful R&B, Hip-Hop and Jazz.

Next to the thematic shows and the guest of week, here are some of the freshest tracks you might hear if you tune in:

K15&LP - A new path
Diana Ross - one Love (Onda Sonora edit)
Lisa Preston aka LP - The Pull feat. Skylab
Unity Gain Theory - Go There feat. Speve Spacek
40 Winks - Live at the Lunar Bar (live)

Hope you’ll enloy listening to LDBK as much as us building it.
