Laid Back Show - 01/10/2008

This week, we had the pleasure to invite Jean Roger aka JR - record collector for more than 30 years - who came to play a set inspired by the kind of music he used to dance to in the early 70’s in a night club called “The Groove” (Oostende, BE). Expect rare grooves, anecdotes about Andre Williams, crate digging stories, musical knowledge and an incredible track by the Martini’s.

    Greetings for my old friends from this fabulous era. The Groove was the temple of the SOUL MUSIC. Probably the best dancing in Europe he threw movement popcorn which was going to follow. The GROOVE was created by RONNY COUSAERT the man that bring and convince MARVIN GAYE to live in OSTENDE. What a great playlist my friend OOOOHHHHOUIIIII….Your friendly soul brother.

    Et merci à cette belle radio qui sait redonner au travers de ces émissions ses “lettres de noblesses” à cette fabuleuse musique qu”est la SOUL…

    On aurait tant à dire du GROOVE, de son ambiance, de sa musique exceptionelle, de la classe qui y régnait et du “melting pot” qui le composait… Comme le dit si bien JR dans son interview, pour un néophyte de l’époque, descendre les escaliers du GROOVE et pénétrer dans le “saint du saint” c’était comme un FLASH, une révélation pour bon nombre d’amoureux de la musique…

    Pour cela la Belgique a toujours été en avance sur son temps au niveau érudition musicale (c’est un frenchie qui le dit)…

    Coco, HERBIE GOINS, qui a entre parenthèse, reprit magistralement le morceau de BOBBY BLAND : 32-22-36

    Bravo les jeunes de cette ardio et KEEP THE FAITH. JR, see you at the crossroads soon….

    salut les belges ici un messages du quebec je suis un vieux potes de J.R ET JE PEUT vous dire qu’il a d’autres bombes cachees chez lui (en dessous d’un matelas) qu’il aurait pu emmener .bonnes emmissions les jeunes c bon ce flashback a une vielle epoque ou les gens dansait sur la musique sans savoir c’etait quoi et sans que cela passe a la radio 1 456 628 fois par jour, c’etait une epoque ou c toi qui decidait ce que tu aimait bon assez de morale pour aujourd’hui ciaoo PS J.R CONTENT DE VOIR QUE T’EST ENCORE VIVANT VIELLES CANAILLES
