Laid Back Show - 12/11/2008

Posted on November 13, 2008 by Julius

Let’s be honest, we were not planning to play this set. But due to some last minutes changes, I had to find an “emergency” mix … So i did some digging into the Laid Back archives, found those old stickers (see picture) and decided to play the selfish card by selecting two 30 minutes mixes I recorded in October 2003.

So obviously nothing new in this set but some of my favorite tracks: Jackie Mittoo - the studio one keyboard genius, MF Doom with his cover of the quiet storm queen Sade and even a Walt Disney moment as you’ll hear tracks from the Jungle Book and Aristocats OST.

James Brown - Lowdown popcorn
Common Sense - In my world (check the method) feat NO ID
Jackie Mittoo - Totally together
Jimmy Smith - I’m gonna love you just a little more babe
Blackalicious - If i may
Donald Bird - Wind parade
MF Doom - Doomsday
Sade - Kiss of life

Non Phixion - No tomorrow
Jay Dee - Fuck the police
KMD - Soul Flexin
Charizma and PB Wolf - Just like a test
Blackalicious and Gil Scott Heron - First in flight
Phil Harris and Louis Prima - The jungle book groove
Phil Harris - Everybody wants to be a cat
The Family Vibes - LA vamp
